Vinnaithandi varuvaaya

Its almost a month since this movie got released and i know its pretty late to review it.. But i cant help it coz of my busy schedule (:P).. Anyways, I watched this flick twice in theatre(Adlabs, Pondicherry) and was moved. 
The screenplay, the chemistry between Simbu and Trisha, the mesmerising music by A.R Rahman, powerful dialogues, the wardrobe of the players, and a reasonable amount of romance and sentiment made the movie a blockbuster and one of my "favourite movies".


Gautham Vasudev Menon is not a new director to Tamil cinema. Be it a simple love story like "Minnale" or an action flick like "Kaaka kaaka", "Vettaiyadu Vilayadu" or a family subject like "Pachakili Muthucharam", not to forget "Vaaranam Aayiram" which is "you have to move on whatever happens" story, Gautham Menon has never failed to leave milestones in Tamil film industry. "Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya" is again a simple love story spun around two people which is screened interestingly. 

Now the gist of "Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya"


Karthik(Simbu) is an ambitious guy with high aims of becoming a film director(and of course his father doesnt approve which is quite usual :D). He falls in love with Jessie (Trisha) the moment he sees her and is surprised to know that she lives in the same house upstairs that was rented by Karthik's family.Ultimately they talk and spend time with each other. He is determined to go to any extent to win his lady love and she is determined not to let her parents down for any reason.Because Jessie belong to a staunch Christian family but she did fall for Karthik at the same time.When love blossoms, trying to be "just friends" wont work. So they decide to go for it inspite of the complexities involved with some(hopeless) hope. When this is the case, Karthik heads to Goa for 45 days for a project. As we know "long distance relationships" barely work. They part their ways. Two yrs later Karthik becomes a director and films his own story of how he met Jessie and fell in love with her(A tribute to his first love). He meets her again in America and what happens or what had happened to her in the past 2 yrs and whether they join hands or part is the climax of the movie. 


Very much practical,logical and a sensible movie with no unnecessary fights/ glamour/punch dialogues. Music is heavenly.Tracks like Hosanna, Mannipaya, kannukul kannai and Omana Pennae is not that easy to stop humming.The part where Karthik describes Jessy in America is just amazing.And thanks to Gautham Menon for showing a different Simbu on screen.Trisha is gorgeous as usual. To sum it up, its a pleasant story worth your time and money.




P.S: Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya is more than just a "must watch" movie.

Zinga to open its office in India soon

Facebook users would surely know about Farmville and that the game was created by Zinga- the largest social game provider. Zinga has recently announced about its opening office in Bangalore.

India stands third in terms of Internet usage after China and United States. And this may be the reason for Zynga CEO Mark Pincus to decide opening office in India which currently has more than 80 million Internet users. Games developed by Zynga includes Farmville, Fishville, Yoville, Petville, Cafe World, Mafia Wars, Zynga Poker, Vampire Wars, Pirates and so on.

Zynga aims in promoting all these games in  future and it is expected that the company would start recruiting computer engineers and game developers across the country.

How I met your mother

"How I met your mother" is a Tv show of fun and comic genre. Very addictive, funny and totally worth watching.

  

Gist of HIMYM:

(As the name implies) It is a story which Ted Mosby  tells his children how he met their mother.The flashback rolls and he tells about every person who he ran into his life, the fun, weird, happy, sad and frustrating times and how he ended up falling in love with his "The One". Four people play very important role in Ted's life- Marshall Ericsson, Lily Ericsson, Barney Stinson and Robin Sherbatsky who all live in New York. 

Ted Mosby:

Ted is cute, romantic and single who waits for his ultimate girl to arrive. Ted's best man is Marshall. Being an architect, his ambition is to build a skyscraper in New York. But life has other better plans for him. He tells the whole story to his kids and thats how the story is unravelled. 

Marshall and Lily Ericsson:

           High school friends of Ted's and the most perfect couple ever.Marshal is a lawyer and Lily works a Kinder-garden school teacher. Ted, Marshall and Lily live together.

Barney Stinson:

           Ever since HIMYM was telecasted Barney became more popular than everyone else. This is because of his quick wit and humour. Barney is kind of expert in flirting and making girls fall for him with his own way of techniques which made him popular and an interesting character. 


Most popular dialogues of Barney:
         "Haaaaaaave you met Ted ?"
         "Suit up"
         "Iam Awesome"
         "Its going to be 'legen' wait for it 'dary'"

Robin Sherbatsky:

           Robin is a Canadian basically who is a TV reporter in a channel barely watched in New York. Ted and Robin date for a while and they break for some reason lately. She is hot, ambitious, hates to have kids and adventurous. 

The show has made many known faces as guest appearances. Stella is again a doctor in "HIMYM" as she was in "Scrubs".Every time Ted dates a woman, the audience think and rethink if she would be the one for Ted. That's the speciality of the show.

I have watched 4 seasons till now(the rest are being screened) and it is all amazing. With every season, it is becoming more interesting and funny. As i told you, it is totally worth your time.

The youtube magic!

YouTube having millions of videos posted enables people only to watch them and not download them for free. However many applications have been designed to download these videos for free. For eg: Type "youtube video download" in Google- many applications pops up in competition. You can either download them to your desktop and save your favorite videos or you can also download the videos online without having to download the application itself. 

Guess what?? The above said is already outdated. There is even more simpler way of downloading videos. 

Follow these steps:

1. Goto www.youtube.com and see what video you wanna download

2. Copy the address and switch to a new tab/window of your browser

3. Now in the address bar- paste the address and wait, dont click enter

4. In the address you have pasted replace y by 3 and leave the rest of the address as it is

5. That leaves us with www.3outube.com/(with the selected videos address)

The rest is taken care automatically. You will be prompted to a download page where you have to specify the preferred format and click save.

The Google Phone-Nexus One

Launched on january 5,2010 the Google phone has been the talk of the town since then.I happened to see the video of how the phone works and its various features and what else can i say-"Its supercool"

Google's Nexus One:

You would have lesser problems operating Nexus One in daylight compared to the other smartphones released so far. This is because Nexus can auto adjust the brightness and turns down the processor when it is not used.

When it comes to smartphones the rule is dont expect much when it comes to camera. Well Google Nexus has broken that rule. The 5 megapixel camera is a real feast. Comes with four auto focus, flash, 2*digital zoom and more. Video recording is possible to the max 30 mins.

The Android tops the OS market because of its high responsiveness and speed. Scrolling and opening programs are done instantly which makes Nexus the best of all Android handsets.

Nexus is incorporated with almost all the Google products. Google Voice is integrated in the phone. You can assign your voice mail number and use it to call your friends or text them.(I love this feature)

Now my favourite part of the phone comes- Voice to Text input feature. You dont have to type messages anymore. Just tell your message by pressing he microphone button and the phone types it for you (including the punctuation marks)..If I get Nexus microphone wud be the most used feature in the phone :D

And there is lots more like YouTube, Picasa, GoogleMaps etc.

Finally, you cant stop having fun with Nexus. I'd say Nexus is the best of Android handsets released so far.

The Avatar Sensation

The recent release of the much awaited movie from the Oscar winning director James Cameron(Titanic) has raised many controversies especially in Italy. Now lets be fair by first reviewing the movie before going to the controversial part of it.

AVATAR - MOVIE REVIEW

A human getting stranded in a land of aliens and fighting back to survive is no different in Hollywood. But wait,,there has to be some difference coz remember the movie has been in the making for more than 10 years and it is directed by James Cameron who got Titanic numerous Awards.

The WETA Digital which was crowned for its work in "Lord of the Rings" and "King Kong" has once again proved itself in Avatar too. WETA used CGI technologies to transform the characters and the environment to the realistic 3D form leaving the audience spellbound.

No doubt the movie rocks!

THE AVATAR SENSATION IN ITALY

Vatican is not happy with the film because it has no restriction for the kids to watch this hi-tech adventure film and no warning for parents .The rating of Avatar is PG-13 in all countries. Two Italian organizations -Moige and AGE has argued to increase its rating.

The film was already slammed by a newspaper in Vatican for promoting nature worship.

And China is also about to ban Avatar from cinemas

2 States

I read the much awaited "2 States" by Chetan Bhagat last week. Trust me,, its too good to ignore. Every reader has this habbit of reading the gist of the story written at the back cover of the book and im no different :P.Everyone wud smile after reading 2 states' gist. Its written like this:

Girl loves boy and boy loves girl. They get married. But this is not the case in India.Girl's family has to like boy and Boy's family has to like the girl. Boy's family shud like girl's family and vice versa.

Which Indian wud not accept this??? ;)

Ananya and Krish are IIMA students who fall in love with each other despite their social background differences. Krish is a Punjabi from Delhi and Ananya is an Iyengar girl from Mylapore in Chennai. And the story begins. The couple decides to get married with blessings of both their families and thats how the interesting part of the book gets unravelled.

They struggle a lot to get their families get to know each other and like them. Right from food habbits everything between the two families( or 2 states) is different. Chetan Bhagat's sense of humor is an add on score for this book (After all he is the author of "5 point someone).

I liked the part where Krish comes to Chennai to join CitiBank and impress Ananya's parents. If you are a person who knows a lot about Chennai, I bet you wud roll on the floor laughing. Else you wud get to know a lot about the place ;) . And for Tamilians, there is a lot you cud know about Punjabis as well. I dont want to spoil the suspense of the book by writting the whole story here.

And this story is supposed to be Chetan Baghat's marriage life. So

A very cute love story

Coming back to the book : Very practically written , enjoyable to read and in short its a good entertaining book. So dont miss it. "2 States" is another milestone of Chetan Baghat's creations.
